In the presence of all the negatives, the problems, the peer pressure and hurt that young people can go through, family therapy can be a great resource and make substantial and lasting changes in the way a young people views themselves. 

The types of families who go for therapy range from the traditional definition of nuclear family to a broader range of differing families that include single parent families, cross-generational kinds of families, step relatives, and others. Many good family therapists have the training in many issues. However, for your particular issue, make sure you pick one that has expertise in that particular area.
